We’ve been called by Accurat to experiment on data visualization experience in augmented reality for Google Trends. The idea is to let people share their hopes for the future and explore the related data, directly taken and updated in real time from Google Trends.
Thanks to Unity we developed an augmented reality app available on Google Play and Apple Store. Using the feed of the camera, people can see some of the most searched concepts on web floating in the air, represented as stones. By balancing users can create their own augmented reality sculpture, explore the related data and place it permanently in the real world by adding their name and location.
The result is an immersive experience completely integrated with the environment of the user. Moving in the space the user can find floating stones, sculptures previously created and placed by other users; and also easily explore them and visualise data to better understand other people concerns. Sculptures can be photographed and shared on Facebook. The app represents an opportunity to physically visualize our hopes and the impact they have on our life: a virtual place to share and understand what the world is hopeful for.
